Is Huawei Mate60 better than iPhone in the future in the Chinese market?
I would describe my perspective on the downside of the Huawei Mate60.
- Technoolgy latency: According to the news, the Huawei Mate60 is made of 7nm chips which is not the state-of-the-art technology like Apple of 4nm. Specifically, Huawei is behind for about 3–5 years.
- Supplier issue: The equipment for 3–4nm manufacturing from ASML is constrained by the USA regulations. Huawei cannot purchase that equipment, so the yield rate of 7nm manufacturing is only 50%. It leads to cost problems but I do not understand why they can still oppress the price. The price of each Huawei Mate60 is around 30000 NTD.
- Consistency of trending: we can check out the follow-up market share in China’s cell phone market. If the hype is consistent, then we shall dive deeper what is the reason that the Chinese prefer their brand instead of the luxury brand, iPhone.
